BA, PhD

Position

Assistant Professor, Research Associate

Educational Background

  • 2015 PhD in Archaeology, Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade
  • 2009 BA in Archaeology, Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade

Research Interests

My research interests include various aspects of human-animal interrelationships in the past, primarily in the Ancient Roman period. I am currently working on the analysis of faunal assemblages from Viminacium and other Roman sites in Serbia, and through my research I engage with various different topics, such as animal burials, the usage of animals in spectacles, the presence of introduced species in the Balkan Roman provinces, diet and animal husbandry. By integrating archaeozoological data with Classical written sources and depictions on archaeological monuments, I try to answer various research questions from the aforementioned fields. Through the study of human-canid relationships throughout history, I explore the originis of dog domestication in the Balkans.
