Dr Sofija Stefanovic, professor of the Department for Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, an a researcher of the BioSense Institute in Novi Sad with a European grant for excellence will give a lecture " Mothers and babies in Prehistory" during the Open Science Days 2018.     

 

Professor Stefanovic's field of study is the analysis of human, animal and plant remains from archaeological sites. Her analysis of the ancient skeletons combine numerous methods from different scientific fields in an effort to understand the evolution of fertility of women in prehistory. She published more than 30 papers and two books in the field of bioarchaeology, has been a mentor to 6 PhD candidates and 36 Master thesis. She is the first scientist in Serbia to get an ERC grant.
